Step out the front door of The Barclay and start exploring the incredible West End neighbourhood – pop into a local café for a bite to eat and bring it to any one of the urban parks in the area to enjoy, head over to Robson Street for some shopping, get some exercise on the Stanley Park Seawall, or treat yourself to a day off at the beach! You can do it all without ever climbing into a car when you call The Barclay your home sweet home.

Our Location


Everything you could possibly need is within easy walking distance from The Barclay, including The West End Community Centre, Whole Foods, Safeway, wine shops and the BC Liquor Store, coffee houses, Barclay Heritage Park, and more. Major Vancouver attractions such as English Bay and Stanley Park are both about 15 minutes by foot, and the downtown entertainment hub on Granville Street is about half an hour’s walk or less. Robson Street is a few short blocks away, and offers endless cafés and restaurants. For a bright and delicious breakfast close to home, try out Cora at Robson and Broughton Streets.

Stanley Park


Escape to natural trails among old growth forest or stick to the paved seawall that encircles the urban oasis formally known as Stanley Park. Dotted with sandy beaches complete with concession stands and washroom facilities, gorgeous gardens and landmark sites including Lumberman’s Arch, Prospect Point, Lost Lagoon and First Nations totems. Explore the park by foot, bike, rollerblades or horse-pulled carriage! You can enter Stanley Park at the end of Barclay Street.

Vancouver Aquarium


Located inside Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is a gorgeous science centre dedicated to marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation and conservation. Aquarium features include sea otter, beluga and dolphin shows (to name a few), a Manta Ray touch pool, an interactive Clownfish Cove play space, 4D theatre presentations, and exhibits from every corner of the world.

Night Life


Get all dressed up with everywhere to go in the vibrant downtown core – all within half an hour’s walk or less from The Barclay. The pedestrian-only section of Granville Street, home to the city’s best night clubs, is easily accessible by foot, bus or bike, along with the theatre district and sports/entertainment stadiums, Rogers Arena and BC Place.

Shopping


Find all the best shops and retailers along Robson Street, just a few blocks from The Barclay, or walk a little further into the downtown city centre to find the large Pacific Centre Mall as well as luxury department stores Nordstrom’s and Holt Renfrew, and even more great street shopping. Getting Around


The Barclay is located in the downtown core, and close to the city’s main transportation hubs including the Canada Line Skytrain system, which provides quick access to city hot spots like Yaletown, the Olympic Village, Broadway Avenue and the Vancouver International Airport. The closest station is Waterfront Station close to Canada Place. You will also find that city buses are a convenient, affordable way to get around and run on regular schedules throughout the city.
